About

Ishan Kishan, a wicketkeeper and left-handed opening batsman from Jharkhand, gained prominence as the captain of the Indian Under-19 team in the 2016 World Cup. Although his team finished as runners-up, Kishan struggled for form on seamer-friendly pitches, scoring only 73 runs in the tournament. Kishan caught the attention with his explosive batting when he smashed an 87 off just 69 balls, including eight sixes, in a Ranji Trophy match against Saurashtra in 2015. He went on to lead the India Under-19 team to victory in a one-day tri-series in Sri Lanka. Having made his first-class debut for Jharkhand in 2014, Kishan displayed his potential by scoring a century and five fifties in his initial ten matches. His aggressive batting style led to his selection by the Gujarat Lions in the 2016 IPL auction at the age of 17, where he was purchased for INR 35 lakh (approximately $52,000 USD). Ishan Kishan's attacking approach to batting and his early success in domestic and franchise cricket mark him as a promising talent in Indian cricket. With his wicketkeeping skills and ability to score quick runs, Kishan has the potential to make a significant impact in the years to come.
