Joshua Da Silva, a talented wicketkeeper-batsman from Trinidad and Tobago, made a significant impact in domestic cricket before earning a call-up to the West Indies squad. His impressive performances in the 2019-20 season, where he scored 507 runs at an average of 50.7 in first-class cricket, caught the attention of selectors. Da Silva's consistent performances led to his inclusion in the West Indies Emerging Players squad, which went on to win the Regional Super50 competition, with Da Silva contributing an unbeaten century against the Windward Islands in the group stage. During the West Indies' tour of England in 2020, Da Silva made his mark with outstanding performances in intra-squad warm-up games, scoring an unbeaten 133 and 56. He was then given an opportunity in the third Test as a substitute wicketkeeper after Shane Dowrich suffered an injury. This marked his debut in Test cricket. Additionally, he was selected by the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) draft for the 2020 season. Da Silva's development as a young player has been influenced by various experiences. He gained valuable exposure playing club cricket in the United Kingdom for Old Wimbledonians in Surrey as part of the Kieron Pollard scholarship program in 2017. Prior to fully committing to a cricket career, he participated in both cricket and football during his time at St. Mary's College in Port-of-Spain. Of Portuguese heritage, Da Silva has the distinction of potentially becoming the first white player to represent the West Indies since Brendan Nash.
