About

Jermaine Blackwood, an aggressive batsman hailing from Jamaica, burst onto the international cricket scene in June 2014. He earned his place in the West Indies Test squad during the home series against New Zealand after an impressive domestic season. Blackwood had emerged as the leading run-scorer in the 2013-14 season of the Regional Four-Day Competition, accumulating 611 runs. His century against the touring Bangladesh A side further bolstered his case for selection. Blackwood made an immediate impact in his Test debut, coming in as a replacement for Marlon Samuels after West Indies lost the first Test against New Zealand. He showcased his aggressive intent from the outset, hitting a six off Trent Boult in just his second scoring shot. Although he scored a valuable 63 runs in that match, he was left out of the team for the third Test as West Indies opted for an additional bowler. Blackwood's talent was evident from his early days, as he was included in the West Indies Under-19 squad for the 2010 World Cup in New Zealand. This exposure to international cricket at a young age laid the foundation for his subsequent journey in the senior team. Known for his attacking style of play, Jermaine Blackwood has become a key member of the West Indies Test squad. His ability to score runs quickly and counter-attack the opposition has been valuable for the team. With his aggressive approach and natural talent, Blackwood continues to contribute to West Indies cricket with his exciting brand of batting.
